Dans les 5 choix de motorisation que Chevrolet offrait à l'époque pour les Corvette 1969, le "L68" 427 a 400hp a été le moteur de production régulière le moins populaire offert cette année-là.

Seulement 2072 "L68" ont été fabriqués en 1969.

Le moteur de 400hp fourni en très grande partie la même force brute de son grand frère, le "L71" 435hp, mais sans la nature capricieuse.

En comparaison les "L68" ont la triple carburation, les badges 427, le filtre à air spécial en forme de triangle, le rugissement rauque, etc., mais était plus facile à démarrer, plus doux au ralenti et plus silencieux que les "L71".

Les 400hp ont plutôt des "hydraulic lifters" contrairement au bruyant "mechanical lifters" des 435.

L'AUTO EN BREF: En plus du moteur L-68 427 à 400hp, la transmission quatre vitesses M21 et de la Positraction 3,36, cette Corvette 1969 présenté à des options peu commun telles que "Power brakes", des "pneus à bande rouge", "Deluxe wire wheel covers", "verre tintés" et une radio AM-FM.

In the 5 engine choices that Chevrolet offered for the 1969 Corvette, the "L68" 427 at 400hp was the least popular regular production engine offered that year.
 

Only 2,072 were sqeezed into corvette engine compartements that year.
 

The 400-horse engine provided most of the zip and pizzazz of its bigger brother, the 435, but without the temperamental nature.
 

The 400hp had the tri-power, the 427 badges, the special triangular air cleaner, the throaty roar, ect., but starded easier, ideled smoother, ran much quieter.
 

It had hydraulic lifters rather than the clickity clak mechanicals of the 435.
